Joe Mihevc, Toronto’s public health board chair, says movies featuring smoking should be automatically rated 18A. This means films would be restricted to people under the age of 18, unless accompanied by an adult.
According to the councilor: “If we have an opportunity to improve people’s lives in a dramatic way, by stopping the culture that attracts young people to smoking, we will be doing them the grandest favour ever…”
If this policy is approved and retroactive, our kids could miss out on some serious classics, like the one below:
