Unison’s upcoming holiday fundraiser, Schmoozefest! Unison’s Holiday Schmoozefest is the music industry’s very best seasonal schmooze and this year it’s back at the Liberty Grand in Toronto. This year’s Schmoozefest is being held on Wednesday, December 13th, kicking off the festive season with a celebration that includes good drinks, great entertainment, and outstanding community. Music will be provided courtesy of one of the world’s best-known and most-loved DJs, Skratch Bastid, and emcees James Baley and Shawn Hook are sure to entertain at the party of the season you won’t want to miss. Unison was formed in 2010 with one simple but important goal in mind: to ensure that the people who make up the Canadian music business never face times of crisis alone. Created by the industry, for the industry, Unison delivers life-saving emergency financial services and professional counselling to those in need.
Since the charity was founded, Unison has provided free therapy, assisted with medical bills, and provided access to other life-changing services to over 8,500 music workers in times of hardship. Unison has disbursed over $23.3 million dollars in financial support to not just musicians, but also songwriters, production crews, producers, and many other music industry professionals.
In 2022 Unison’s membership increased by over 544%, while donations decreased by over 60%. The need from the music community for financial assistance and Unison’s free mental health care services continues to grow.
