Formed in 1978, Loverboy, with their trademark red leather pants, bandanas, and high-energy rock sound has sold more than ten million albums while earning four multi-platinum plaques, and six Juno awards in 1982. The band consists of original members Mike Reno as the lead vocalist, Paul Dean on guitar, Doug Johnson on the keyboard, Matt Frenette on drums; and replacing the late Scott Smith on bass is Ken Sinnaeve.
Loverboy’s success made them the first Canadian group to earn Columbia Records’ exclusive Crystal Globe Award, which celebrates the sale of more than five million albums outside their native country. In March 2009, the group was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the Juno Awards show.
Their top hits include “Working for the Weekend” (1981) and arena rock staples such as “Turn Me Loose” (1980), “Lovin’ Every Minute of It” (1985), and “Heaven in Your Eyes” (1986).
