Dublin’s Villagers (no “the,” please) just released a sixth album, That Golden Time. Conor O’Brien considers himself to be a “singer-songwriter-instrumentalist-dramatist,” which is hard to fit on a standard business card. There’s no question that the man has a flair for melody, too.
Conor directed his first video, too. He says “The video, much like the song, is a complicated, messy affair full of hellish landscapes and internal demons. It exists in a world conquered by irrational beings and emotional, selfish creatures. Corruption of the soul and disingenuous motivation are the order of the day, so I thought it best to serve with a side plate of the macabre and sinister.”
