Matthew Sweet was one of the great power-pop guys of the 1990s with a ten-year string of albums featuring a number of alt-rock radio hits. One of my personal favourites was 100% Fun from 1995, produced by Brendan O’Brien, Pearl Jam’s usual go-to guy. This was one of the singles–which, by the way, was later covered by Death Cab for Cutie and Bowling for Soul.
(Fun fact: The title of the album was lifted from a phrase in Kurt Cobain’s suicide note.)
