Throwback Thursday: Ministry and Jesus Built My Hotrod (1992)

When the Lollapalooza tour rolled into Molson Park in Barrie, I found myself swept up in Ministry’s backstage entourage, drinking from a bottle of Bushmills with the neck broken off. Later, I stood on the stage looking down at the moshpit bathed in red light and blasted by a high-powered strobe. I remember thinking “This must be what hell looks like.” Such was life on the road with Al Jourgensen.

This was also the year of the album ΚΕΦΑΛΗΞΘ , otherwise known as Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs. It may be the best 45 minutes the band ever recorded with songs like N.W.O. and Just One Fix.

My favourite track was Jesus Built My Hotrod, which features Gibby Haynes of The Butthole Surfers adlibbing gibberish through a bullhorn. If industry metal is your thing, this is bliss.
