Ongoing History Daily: Linkin Park, venture capitalists

Once upon a time, maybe 25 years ago, Linkin Park was an aggressive-sounding band that blended heavy guitars with elements of hip hop—and they sold millions of albums doing that. But they’ve also engaged in plenty of venture capitalism in the world of tech.

In 2015, they launched a company called Machine Shop Ventures with the goal of making serious coin off investments in tech companies.  They had a position in Lyft, which is Uber’s main rival when it comes to ride-sharing. There’s Shyp, which is an on-demand app for shipping goods. And they’ve got a piece of a chain called Blue Bottle Coffee.

This makes sense to me. Along with food, technology is just as rock’n’roll as, well, rock’n’roll.
