Ongoing History Daily: Rage Against the Machine against the Secret Service, part 2

Last time, we looked at how Rage Against the Machine was basically booted off Saturday Night Live in mid-show after they tried to hang upside-down American flags on their amps. Bass player Timmy C didn’t take kindly to that, so he knotted up one of the flags real tight and threw it at some relatives of host Steve Forbes, one of the richest men in the world at the time and—this is important—a Republican presidential candidate.

As a candidate, he was entitled to protection from the Secret Service. Thinking that this was some kind of an attack on the candidate, the Secret Service locked down in their dressing room and then escorted out of the building.

Strange how they were never asked back to SNL after that.
