Ongoing History Daily: Hey, where's our guitarist?

The role of the road manager to make sure the band gets to the gig safely and on time. But even with the best and most careful planning, things sometimes go horribly wrong.

Take the time when the Killers were scheduled to play the Glastonbury Festival in 2005. At that time, it was the biggest gig of their career.  On the way to the site, the band stopped for food at a gas station.  Forty-five minutes after the tour bus left, someone noticed that Dave Keuning, the guitar player, was missing. His wallet and cell phone were in his bunk, so he was completely stranded.

To make matters worse, drummer Ronnie Vannucci had food poisoning and was really sick at both ends. They found Dave and made to the gig. However, a roadie was assigned to “vomit bucket” duty so that Ronnie could throw up between songs.
