Here are some things about USS that may have escaped your attention.
(1) First, they’re from the east end of Toronto. Singer Ash Buchholtz is from Markham and DJ/turntablist the Human Kebab—real name: Jason Parsons is from the town of Stouffville.
(2) “USS” stands for “Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker.” This originated in a bucket list written up by Ash when he was trying to figure out what he wanted to accomplish in life. He wanted to be a “ubiquitous synergy seeker.”
(3) The Human Kebab—it always feels weird staying that—knew Ash when the two of them were working on a golf course. But when Ash’s sister, hired Kebab to DJ her wedding back in 2004, that’s when the bonding began.
And (4) Before things took off, Kebab spent a lot of time working on an oil pipeline in Alberta. Ash meanwhile, needed to sort out a lot of things with his personal life. He now reserves plenty of time to meditate.
