Coldplay Once Hit Pause On Touring, But Their Comeback is Unlike Anything You’ve Ever Seen

Back in 2021, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin sat down with legendary host Alan Cross to talk about the band’s latest release, Music of the Spheres. It was an album created during the lockdown of the 2020 pandemic – but not because of the pandemic. The band had already planned to be in the studio but found that the moment helped them create freely. “All we were left with was music and the love of music and what we want to say though music.”

On this project, they worked with the most successful pop producer in the history of pop music, Max Martin. He’s worked with the likes of Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, and Ariana Grande. After meeting at a Rihanna show and connecting over what Chris Martin describes as “musical love at first sight,” the collaboration began. Not only did the band feel he brought out something they didn’t know they had, he also contributed a skill set they themselves did not possess. Together, they felt super grateful and excited about the work they had created for their fans.

As it seemed, everything was perfect. Except maybe one thing.

The band had once announced they would not go back on the road until it was possible to do so in an environmentally safe way. That meant they would not be able to tour with this exciting new record.

Luckily, speaking about it got them what they needed. Companies, groups, networks, people, and fans reached out from all over the world to help them achieve this goal.

Now, they have successfully been on a world tour since 2022, with new dates still being added to the roster. It is said that, in comparison to their last tour, this one will cut CO₂ emissions by 50% by powering shows with renewable energy.

And maybe that’s Coldplay’s true encore: proving that music can move people—and people can move the world.
