Pink Floyd releases the long-awaited 50th-anniversary edition of Wish You Were Here. Naturally, the audio is heavenly.

It’s been 50 years since Pink Floyd released Wish You Were Here, the follow-up to Dark Side of the Moon and the homage to their crazy diamond ex-bandmate, Syd Barrett. As Floyd is wont to do with these reissues, they’ve gone crazy.

The 50th-anniversary edition features:
    • Previously unreleased alternate takes of alternate versons and demos, including a different take on “Welcome to the Machine” (see below).
    • Of those 25 bonus tracks, nine are studio rarities and 16 are live recordings that were captured by–and this is cool–by a very famous bootlegger named Mike Millard. He was at Floyd’s gig at the LA Sports Arena on September 26, 1975. Although these tracks have been in the wild for decades, this is their first official release and sound much, much better.
    • The Blu-ray offers three concert films that were seen during that 1975 tour.
    • Multiple formats: 3 x LP, 2 x CD, Blu-ray, digital, and a deluxe box set.
    • That box set will feature a Dolby Atmos mix, of course.
    • It will also come with a fourth clear vinyl LP featuring a 1974 concert at Wembley, a replica Japanese 7-inch of “Have a Cigar/Welcome to the Machine,” a hardcover book loaded with photos, a comic book tour program, and a Knebworth concert poster.
    • You can pre-order here.
