Ongoing History Daily: A look at Josh Homme's will

Although Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age is a big strapping guy, he’s had his health issues over the last fifteen years or so. Some of been so serious—he nearly drowned when he was 12 and he technically “died” on an operating table and was brought back—he’s faced mortality more than most. This has prompted thoughts about what he’d like done with his body once he’s gone.

First, Josh loves the desert. He plans to be cremated, with part of the ashes going to his family. The rest is earmarked for a plot out in the California desert. He wants to be poured into a concrete slab and then have a table and chairs set on top. He hopes this will encourage kids to make a trip out into the desert, sit in the chairs, and have some refreshments while staring up at the majesty of a starry night sky.
