Ongoing History Daily: The connection between Henry Rollins and Charles Manson

True or false: punk legend Henry Rollins once helped produce a record for Charles Manson, the serial killer. That’s true.

Back in the day, he was scraping out a living as the singer for Black Flag, the band’s record company, SST, was contacted by Manson’s lawyer for help in producing a record of some of the songs his client had written in prison. Hank corresponded with Manson about these acoustic songs and actually mixed down a recording called “Completion.” However, word got out, and SST started getting death threats. That convinced them not to release the album.

Apparently, though, five copies exist–and Henry Rollins has two of them.
