Back in the 80s when I did overnight alternative radio, I was always on the lookout for something appropriately spooky, tracks that sounded best when heard in the dark in the middle of the night. Had The Violent Ones been around back then, I would have certainly played this undiscovered gem.
The Violent Ones are the vehicle for Texas producer and multi-instrumentalist Jonas Wilson. For this song, he’s mined some of the darker elements of late 70s/early 80s New Wave (think less happy B-52s, weirdo punk band The Germs, and perhaps a little Killing Joke) to create something pretty unsettling. Cool.
